EmoScienS is not a tech company that became interested in emotions. It is a team of researchers who developed the technology they needed and are now making it accessible to research and organizations.

EmoScienS is a Quebec-based company specializing in the automated analysis of emotions. Founded by researchers in psychology, behavioral science, and computer science, its mission is to make this technology accessible, rigorous, and ethical for academic research and organizations.

Unlike standard algorithmic tools, EmoScienS goes beyond simply providing raw data. Its role is to transform automated emotional measurements into understandable, actionable, and scientifically relevant results.

Questionnaires measure what people think they felt afterward, in their own words, influenced by their mood at the time. This is useful. But it’s not enough when you need objective and continuous data.

Automated emotion analysis offers a concrete alternative: it captures emotional responses as they occur, based on facial expressions and/or tone of voice, without interrupting the experiment or relying on participants’ memory or emotional vocabulary.

EmoScienS applies this approach with three non-negotiable requirements:

  • Rigor: the models used are grounded in validated affective science
  • Transparency: the limitations and biases of the measurement are documented and explained
  • Control: your data remains yours, from collection to deletion

This is not a replacement for your expert judgment. It is an additional objective indicator that can be used where the questionnaire leaves off.

  • Pierrich Plusquellec, Ph.D.: Researcher in psychology and affective sciences, specializing in measuring emotional responses and methodological rigor. Author of publications in international scientific journals including Scientific Reports, Psychological Reports, and IEEE Xplore.
  • Nathe François, Ph.D.: Expert in behavioral sciences and the development of emotional technologies. Specialist in integrating analytical tools into applied and organizational contexts.
  • Noel Rignon: Software expert and digital solution development specialist.

The company was born from their dual expertise: rigorous scientific knowledge combined with a concrete desire to make this technology useful beyond the laboratory.
